The Supreme Court of India, in Sampurna Behrua vs. Union of India and Others, has requested and urged the Chief Justice of each High Court to seriously consider establishing child friendly Courts and vulnerable witness Courts in each district. Inquiries under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and trials under other Statutes such as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, trials for sexual offences under the Indian Penal Code and other similar laws require to be conducted with a high degree of sensitivity, care and empathy for the victim. The Madras High Court, in Mohan Pradeep vs. Revenue Divisional Officer, Ootacamand and Another, has held that an order under Section 133 Cr.P.C., without drawing a preliminary order as well as calling upon the Petitioner to show cause as to why the building should not be demolished, is contrary to the procedure laid down under Section 138 of Cr.P.C. Legal News
(a) The Supreme Court of India has reprimanded the Central Government for not having complied with its verdict with regard to the Cauvery river water dispute for framing of the Scheme under Section 6A of the Interstate River Disputes Act of 1956.

(b) The Supreme Court of India has come out with the observation that the time has come to take steps for introducing videography in investigation, particularly for crime scene as desirable and acceptable best practice.

(c) The Supreme Court of India has directed the State of Utter Pradesh to deposit Rs. 5 lakhs in the matter concerning a Khap Panchayat diktat for rape of two Dalit women.

(d) The Bombay High Court has held that a major unmarried daughter is entitled for maintenance from her father.
