Legal News
(a) The Supreme Court of India has upheld the denial of candidature of Police aspirants on ground that they had criminal antecedents, despite the fact that they were acquitted. 

(b) The Supreme Court of India has directed the stay of operation of the judgment and order passed by the Karnataka High Court striking down the 2014 amendment to the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling Rules) of 2008.

(c) The Kerala High Court has held that the orphanages run by private individuals or organization without any support or aid from the Government are required to obtain registration under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. However, the Court also clarified that such private orphanages functioning without State aid were not under the obligation to satisfy the requirements in the Model Rules framed under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. 

(d) The Centre Government has asked the Supreme Court of India to modify its order making it mandatory for all cinema halls to play the anthem during which cine-goers were to stand up in attention and urged it to restore it to the earlier position.
